Obituary of Paul J. Stenger Sr.
Paul J. Stenger, Sr., 86 of Dingmans Ferry, PA, formerly of Wayne, NJ, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Delaware Valley Personal Care, Westfall Township, PA. Paul was a retired Typesetter, who started his career as a Linotype Operator. He owned PS Graphics in Wayne, NJ. He honorably served his county in the U.S. Navy. Paul attended Alexander Hamilton Masonic Lodge in Paterson, NJ and Mt. View Masonic Lodge in Wayne, NJ and was a Past Master Mason in the Lessing Lodge, Passaic, NJ. He was a Shriner. He was a history buff having a great passion for Gettysburg and the Civil War. He was an avid reader. A do-it-yourself-er he could tile a floor, construct a room, renovate a room, paint a house, replace a roof, chop down a tree, build a deck, etc. like nobody’s business.
The son of the late Joseph and Marie (Staib) Stenger, he was born October 3, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, the 2nd of 11children. While home on a visit from the Navy, he came out of a bar with his brother and spotted a girl with bright red hair and green eyes and said he was “a dead duck”. The love of his life, Wilma. They married on August 5th, 1957, at Goodsell Methodist Church, Brooklyn, NY and shared 61 years of married life together. A devoted husband, he cared for Wilma throughout her illness, without falter, for 4 1/2 years until her passing in 2019. He would say often, I miss her. I miss her a great deal.
Paul leaves behind to cherish his memories: two sons, Paul Jr. and his wife Lynn, John and his companion Linda and two daughters, Linda Marino and her husband Matthew, Joyce-Ellen Scalley and her husband Kevin; 12 grandchildren, Sara, Kelly, Ryan, Erin, John Jr., Ashley, Joseph, Daniel, Meghan, Michael, Matthew and Mark, 6 great grandchildren, Logan, Audri, Vincent, Sam, Maisie and Theo, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, his brother-in-law George Hollis, many nieces and nephews and his companion of the past 11 months, Miss Jean.
Family will receive friends at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, Pa on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 12 to 3 PM. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on May 10, 2024, at 3 PM with Military Honors to follow.
