When I moved into Midland Park, NJ, Jeff and I became instant friends in our 6th grade school. We shared a lot of good times and memories... Video Games, bike riding all over town, exploring the old Maple Lake in Wyckoff, NJ. We shared our same music likings, enjoyed our first beer together, frequent visits to Homestead Roofing where his Dad worked. Jeff and his fam moved to Prospect Park, NJ .. I had many bike rides that were 5 miles long one way to hang out. After Jeff and Brian's Dad, (Herb) got remarried to Candy, they all moved up to Hamburg, NJ. I traveled to visit them all in Hamburg on a few occasions when I got my license. We had a blast as 17 year olds' back then. Life was good. Then Jeff signed up with the Army. I wished him well as he went off to the Middle East to Defend our Country. I lost many years while he was deployed, but Jeff reached out to me once he was able to as he suffered an injury. We spoke a few times over the phone. I did my best to communicate with Jeff due to his hindered speech. I hate myself for not taking some time to travel and visit Jeff and his brother. I wish I could have seen him just once more to rehash our youth and bring back our old childhood memories. I have a heavy heart for Brian as he cared for his brother all these years after returning home from his Service. I will think of Jeff always as he was a small part of my life. I know I will see him again someday. Love ya buddy... watch over us all.

Ginny and myself had just seen Jeffery as well as his brother who had visited Perkins pancake house in P.A. With Frank and Lois Mattews on veterans day. It so wonderful to see the family out and enjoying good cooking together. Our special surprise was seeing Jeff and his brother. We sometimes see Frank and Lois but not the two younger men. Jeff and myself and others at Goshen C.R.C would gather together for bible studies way back. Some names I can't remember now as I'm old. ;) but Shortway and Jeff were there much of the time. Jeff shared with me how his health was messed up from his deployment in the middle east and he was a little slower in speech but he loved gathering around God's word. And he always had a great smile as Bob Shortway would spurr up in all of us asking deep questions but also funny things to ponder. I look for the day we see both of them and many others who are gone from here for now. Marty
