Austin was a riot and a rebel. He lived his life on his own terms and by his own rule book, which is to say, without one. He was a wild child and a daredevil, completely fearless and always pushing limits. He was carefree and truly lived in each moment. He spoke the truth and said what he was thinking. He was a piece of work and a breath of fresh air. No one knew how to raise hell with a confident smirk better than Austin.
Austin was also kind, caring, helpful, and loving. He was hilarious, a good listener, and a great man.
Austin was my little step brother, my only brother, and there is a hole in my heart with his passing. Even through the rough patches of life, we knew we had each other's love, and that was enough. I'm sorry we never got to ride motorcycles together or kayak together or shoot bows together or get a beer together. I never remembered to tell him I caught my first fish this year. Life is precious, quick, and unpredictable, just like Austin.
Austin- or as your older sisters fondly called you, Eight- thank you for spending your time on this Earth reminding us all to care less about what others think, and instead do more of what feels right.
