I played for Coach Cobb 66-68. He understood the game and understood better than anyone how to teach the game. He loved to pitch while we were practicing "situations" as I recall he called them. He demanded excellence but was quick to put his arm around you when you made a mistake. Despite his laser focus he had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted in racing those of us lumbering slow guys at the end of practice ....referred to as the turtle race of which I was proud participant. In addition to baseball he was a terrific history teacher and knew how to create a passion for this subject. The world has lost one of the great ones.
Rest in Peace Coach and thanks for helping to mold me into the person I am today.

Coach Ralph Cobb hated to lose. His intensity was instilled in all of his players.
In class, if someone was talking, he would say, "I'm on the phone!"
He really disliked a player taking the third strike.
Great man and great memories.
Rest In Peace, Coach.
Peace and sympathy to Nancy and the family.

I played for Coach Cobb at Rutherford High School. When he first started at RHS he introduced himself to the team by telling us that if we loved baseball half as much as he did that that would be acceptable to him. He LOVED the game and did a fine job of drilling each player individually, as well as the team as a whole, on every aspect of the game. Thank you coach Cobb. Sincere sympathy to Nancy and all.

My fondest memory of Coach Cobb was sharing in his first League & State Titles in the Spring of 1965, just one win short of going to the County finals. Coach Cobb understood the game like none other, and demanded excellence in both performance and commitment. He will be truly missed. Rest in Peace Coach.

My name is Alan Mantz. Coach Cobb was our freshmen and sophomore baseball coach at Northern Valley, Demarest. We were on split sessions in those days, but Coach put together a very special group of kids. If memory serves we only lost two games in two years under his direction. He was a great coach who believed in “playing the game the right way.” The entire team grew by leaps and bounds under his leadership and it was a true pleasure playing for him. As a Coach as well as an outstanding person, he will always hold a place in my heart. God Bless.

We have been friends of Ralphs for 22 years. We met playing Bocci Ball and enjoyed so many fun times including many happy hours, dinners an especially a cruise to the Carribean. Many laughs and good times. Personally, I will always miss his big smile
and his yelling out LaLa whenever he saw me. Rest in peace our dear friend. You will be missed. Rita and Dan {Skippy}
