The first time I met Caroline was when she was hard at work, alongside her daughter and my one-time college roommate, Maggie, at the Ace News in Heath. With the love of journalism "ink" already in my veins at age 18, I aspired to be like her some day. She was so full of life and energy, it was difficult for me to see her as a mom. Later, when visiting Maggie in California, I visited Carrie at her apartment, where she was, as always, a great host with focus on the guest rather than herself. May her energy and all she is -- including the namesake with one granddaughter -- live on within the family. As I watch my own mom struggle with dementia as she will turn 93 next week, I know how hard these past few years have been. May Carolyn be at peace now -- something I wish, too, for Maggie, Patti, Gordon and Vicki. God bless, Patty
