It is still hard to process this. I only discovered this terrible news doing an internet search in late 2020. Karllina and I met studying in London in 1987 and we began our travels together. We lived together in Syracuse senior year and went on to spend time together in California, Colorado, Pennsylvania and New York. We stayed in touch for many years until crazy 2020. I will miss and remember karllina always. My heart goes out to Duane and her entire family.

I do and don't want to write a note here because I just found out, that Karllina a dear friend with whom I drove across America is no longer with us; I don't want to write cause its been so long since we touched bases; I looked her up cause I found a letter, dated 2006 she sent at Christmas that year with a photo of her family.
I am so sorry for her kids and husband. I met Karlina working for SGI and got on so well with her I decided to come and met this crazy American girl, flying from the UK to the US, this was at some point in the 1990s. Karlina męt me in Chicago and we spent several weeks driving across the US. Since I had friends in Salt Lake we parted company and Karllina returned to the west coast. It was the last time I saw her in person.
To this day I can remember some of the places we visited together, laughing in the car; me the reading from a tourist guide, the foolish English tourist, Karllina the wise cracking crazy American girl. She was a very special lady and I am quite sure a great mom and good wife too.

Duane and Family, I was very taken back as I learned of your wife/mother’s passing. I have gotten to understand your circumstance and family battle recently as you have performed services at my home in the Escape. What I do understand is Karllina fought hard and long, as you all have, and never gave up. Her attitude always positive. Such a powerful message and lesson from her and God for all of us to be inspired and try to follow. I pray for your time of healing. We do not understand the master’s plan, but there is one. Time, destiny and fate will allow our eternal peace. Our thoughts are with you all. Mike B and Family

Howdy!
My cousin, my best friend growing up . . . I will always cherish our memories together of sleep overs, baths together, showers together, getting in trouble together LOL! The Playboy Club, your house in Matamoras Rural Ridge and Maybrook. The Maybrook Drive In and running the snack bar together on Sundays. Browsing the flea market. Riding on our whirley bird and Sunday spaghetti dinners.
Life happened and although we grew apart, whenever we did get together it was like time had never passed! I always admired your spirit and loved your infectious smile, joy and the way you made friends everywhere wherever you went! It was always a great treat to see you and spend time with you And your beautiful family!
Looking forward to being together again when my time comes! I know you are guiding this crazy family from above!
Ludga always! You will be forever missed!

Every time I saw Karllina she had a smile on her face. She had a beautiful laugh and an infectious way about her that you couldn’t help to be in a good mood while you were around her. The world will be a slightly darker place without her in it.
With much love to her family

My deepest sympathies to the family. Duane, Paulina, and Arthur; you gave her the love and joy she wanted more than anything. She will always be in your heart, in your soul. She is a part of everyone she met, she made us better for having known her. She loved and cared about others deeply; she gave of herself completely and genuinely. She was a gift that we all wanted to hold. I was lucky enough to call her a friend but honored to be called a big sister. She led our group of young adults on some amazing adventures, without her we would never have envisioned or attempted. She touched our hearts and filled them with Joy.

Although I didn’t see her often she was a big help to me one snowy day. I was trying to turn my car around and I got stuck in the snow. She came to my aid and pushed me out of the snow without hesitation. I was so grateful because I really didn’t know her. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. I never forgot how thoughtful and kind she was to a stranger. Rest In Peace my dear.

I have such fond memories of Karllina while she worked as TSS for special needs students and later as a guidance counselor at the South School. She was always smiling and happy to talk about her love of family, travel, and life. Her easy going personality made her such a wonderful friend.
She will be missed.
