Obituary of Eva R. Strinati

Eva Rose Strinati, formerly of Milford, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 at The Watermark at Logan Square in Philadelphia, PA. She was 94 years old. Eva was born in Manhattan on March 1, 1926 to her Italian immigrant parents, Anna and Dante Villani. She had a sister Mary and brother Joseph, both of whom predeceased her. Eva worked as a secretary in a Wall Street bank and met her future husband, the late Louis Strinati, at a dance hall in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan. Eva was a very devout Catholic from childhood. When Louis fell in love with Eva, he took to going to Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church on 52nd Street just to be able to have a few words with her. Those words turned into a great love story. Together, they built a life, first in Manhattan and then in Milford beginning in 1966, where Eva lived until the summer of 2018. During her marriage, Eva’s favorite activity was dancing with Louis, a hobby they pursued with passion and excellence. Their chemistry on the dance floor was legendary. She also loved cooking for her family. She was famous for her chicken cacciatore, cabbage torta, marinated mushrooms, breaded chicken cutlets, pâté, and “merry company cake” from a recipe of her husband’s aunt. Eva was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Milford for many years. She and Louis also owned and operated a flea market on Harford Street. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, knitting, reading in her sunporch, gardening, and yoga. Eva is survived by her daughters Jeanette Strinati Litts (Richard) of Philadelphia and Diana Strinati Baur (Michael) of Rottweil, Germany, as well as her beloved grandchildren Jessica Staub (Robert) of Wayne, Pennsylvania, and Andrew Litts (Neha Pancholi) of Philadelphia, and her great-granddaughter Juliet Adele Staub of Wayne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 111 E High Street, Milford, PA in accordance with public health mandates. Burial will take place in Milford Cemetery Dingman Township, PA. A celebration of life in memory of Eva may be forth coming. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Eva can be made to the Milford branch of the Pike County Library: 119 E.
