Obituary of Janos P. Spitzer

Janos Peter Spitzer of Lords Valley, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 3, 2025, surrounded by friends and family in his final days. He was a devoted husband to the late Roberta Spitzer (née Lamnin) for 48 years, a loving father, and cherished grandfather.

Born in Budapest, Hungary, Janos was the son of the late Pal Spitzer and Lenke Spitzer (née Herz). He immigrated to the United States in 1956, having survived both World War II and the Hungarian Revolution. After settling in New York, New York, he established his life and career, driven by a fierce determination and resilience.

Janos built a successful business, the Janos Spitzer Flooring Company, which earned a reputation for quality and excellence. As a pioneer in the flooring industry, he was a respected member of the trade, sought after for his experience and expertise throughout his over 50-year career.

Janos embraced his identity as a proud American, yet he never forgot his origins. He cherished his Hungarian culture and heritage, sharing its rich traditions and values with everyone he encountered.  He returned to Hungary as often as possible and maintained close relationships with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie Spitzer, son-in-law Cory Siddons of Canton, MA, and his beloved grandchildren, Olivia Siddons and Evan Siddons.  Condolences may be sent to 110 Indian Lane, Canton, MA 02021.

Janos will be remembered as a fierce friend, loving father, husband, and grandfather, as well as an esteemed craftsman. His legacy of excellence, generosity, and love will be felt by all, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
