Obituary of Lori A. Carey

Lori Carey, 60, of Ramsey, NJ passed away on January 3, 2025, after a long illness. Lori grew up in Keyport, NJ and graduated from Raritan HS, Brookdale Community College and Monmouth University where she obtained her MBA.

She is survived by her mother, Lois (Hunter) Kucharek; sisters, Cindy Phillips (Jerry Nudi), and Beth (Glenn) Rodland; several nieces and nephews and her faithful companion Rebel. She was predeceased by her father John Kucharek and husband William Carey.

Lori was a CFA who had a successful career for many years with Chrysler Financial that took her around the country and world. She and Bill eventually settled in California where Lori decided to leave the corporate world and pursue her passions of photography and writing.

Lori wrote for several automotive publications and her work has been used in books, advertisements, corporate publications and image libraries, and has been published in the NY Times, Orange County Register and newspapers across the globe. She also did the California-based still photography for the Baseball Hall of Fame Critic's Choice award-winning movie The Emerald Diamond.

Lori was happiest when she and Bill took her beloved jeep out to the desert with her ever-present camera strapped around her neck. She was an exceptional photographer with a deep appreciation for the desert’s breathtaking landscape and an innate ability to capture its beauty in her work. She loved off-roading in the desert and volunteered her time to an organization dedicated to taking wounded and disabled veterans to off-roading events.

Lori and Bill relocated to Wyoming in 2020 where they adopted their best boy Rebel. Lori and Rebel relocated back to NJ in 2024 after Bill’s passing where her time was cut way too short by her illness.

After becoming ill and stepping away from her work, Lori turned to blogging to fulfill her creative spirit, chronicling her extraordinary journey on 'X.' Thousands of followers were captivated by her stunning photography, charmed by Rebel, and deeply inspired by her resilience, courage, and unwavering strength in the face of life’s many challenges. Lori was, without question, a true warrior.
