Abram "Bud" DeVries Obituary

Abram “Bud” DeVries, 80 of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania passed away, Sunday, November 24, 2024, at home.


 


Up until his retirement, he worked as a Shop Steward for Malcolm Konnor Cheverlot in Paramus, NJ.


 


Bud was a devout member of Dingmans Ferry United Methodist Church, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania as well as a loyal volunteer for both the Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department and North Haledon Volunteer Fire Department. He was a loyal fan of the New York Giants as well as NASCAR racing. Hobbies of Bud’s included hunting and traveling. He would often spend his spare time relaxing by his pool with friends and family, otherwise known as “Bud’s Hangout”. 


 


The son of the late Cornelius and Greta (VanderVeer) DeVries,  Bud was born May 10, 1944, in Prospect Park, New Jersey.


 


He was married to the late Vanda L. (Bosma) DeVries. Together, they raised two sons, Timothy A. and Benjamin C. DeVires who preceded him in death. 


 


Left to cherish Bud’s memory are his grandchildren; Tara Stevenson and Jacob DeVries; sister, Jessica Hazen, brother, Neil DeVries; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother Jack DeVries


 


Friends may call at the Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford Street, Milford, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services will follow at the Funeral Home on November 26, 2024, at 7 PM with Rev. Sungduk Kim officiating.


 


Burial will take place at Fair Lawn memorial Cemetery, Fair Lawn, New Jersey on November 27, 2024, at 11:30 AM.


 


Memorial donations in Bud’s memory may be made to the Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department, 131 Wilson Hill Rd, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania 18328.
