Obituary of Frederick J. Schrader

Frederick J. Schrader Jr, 82, of Shohola, PA (formerly Westwood, NJ) peacefully passed away at home on February 16, 2020. Prior to retirement he managed a fleet of mechanics for the Village of Ridgewood in NJ and was a United States Navy Veteran. Frederick also served as an Assistant Boy Scout Leader in Westwood, NJ. The son of the late Frederick J. Sr and Elizabeth (Davis) Schrader, he was born on November 7, 1937 in Englewood, NJ. Surviving are both his brother James Schrader and sister Elizabeth (Betsy) Schrader Gottberg. After graduating from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ in 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy. Frederick was best known as Pop, Fred, Freddy, or Fudootz to those that loved and knew him best! He was married to (Ann) Vikki McKune in 1963 and referred to her as his “bride” for all 56 years of marriage. His love, friendship, beautiful blue eyes and twinkle will be missed until they met again. His life with Vikki included homes in Bergenfield, NJ, Westwood, NJ, Shohola, PA, Winter Haven, FL and seasonal trailer camping in Monticello, NY. They shared a once in lifetime relationship. Though he married Ann he only called her Vik, Vikki, or Ralph – she called him Fred, Pop, or Jack – but whatever he was called he loved most was when he was called to dinner! Frederick leaves behind his loving wife, (Ann) Vikki Schrader; sons, Frederick J. Schrader III and wife Cathy Waldo Schrader; and T.Scott Schrader and wife Andrea Ernst; daughter, Erica and husband Sean Becker. He was the proudest Pop to Nick Becker and his wife Rachel Miller Becker, Stacey Schrader, Aaron Becker, Ella Becker, Ryan and Nathan Schrader. His legacy of fixing all things mechanical lives on through his firstborn and name sake Fred as well as his firstborn grandson Nick. The love for the outdoors, camping, and scouting will continue through the lives of his second son Scott and grandsons Ryan and Nathan. Grandson Nathan will continue to be a recycler of the type of “treasure-junk” that Fred so dearly loved and collected. The quick wit, humor, and fishing memories will remain with Stacey for a lifetime. Pops ability to charm, sweet talk and get what he wants can easily be seen in is buddy and coffee/donut partner Aaron. Fred’s inquisitive nature and desire to know and understand all things better and asking countless questions show up often in his daughter Erica and granddaughter Ella seems to be picking these traits quickly as well. His comical ways, made-up words, and determination to be in good shape for the shape he is in will forever be our hearts, minds and soul. That’s the story! Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 3 to 5 PM. Services will follow at the funeral home at 5 PM with Pastor Neal Wintermute officiating. Cremation is private at convenience to the family at MacLennan Hall Crematorium.
