Obituary of Roberta Spitzer
Roberta Spitzer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and educator, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon Township, NJ. She was surrounded by the love of her family during her final moments.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Roberta was the daughter of the late Joseph Lamnin and Alice Lesser, and the stepdaughter of Fred Ross. She pursued her passion for nursing with unwavering dedication, earning her master’s degree from Columbia University. Her career was marked by her work as a nurse and later as a nurse educator at Bergen County Community College and SUNY Orange. Roberta had a profound impact on countless students, inspiring them with her passion for the nursing profession and her commitment to education.
Roberta made her home in Lords Valley, PA, and was an active member of the Hemlock Farms community since 1991, serving on several committees and contributing to local initiatives.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Janos Spitzer; her daughter, Julie Spitzer, and son-in-law, Cory Siddons, of Canton, MA; her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Siddons and Evan Siddons; her sister, Jerilyn Coviello, and brother-in-law, Daniel Coviello; and two nieces, Lindsay Sozomenou and Melissa Fox.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Lords Valley Country Club. In lieu of shiva at their home, the family will receive friends and family beginning at 11 AM, followed by a service led by Rabbi Bickhardt. Lunch will be served.
Roberta's legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched
