Please accept our deepest condolences on your loss. May God's love cover you and provide comfort and peace in your sorrow.
I first met Gretel ages ago when she, Barbara May and my grandmother Hilda Stroyan were chatting on the lawn of Barbara's
yard. I don't recall their conversation, but I saw and heard good neighbors and good friends talking, laughing and enjoying life
on a beautiful, sunny afternoon in each other's company. In the Apple Valley Gift Shop, at Church events, or whenever I would
see her, Gretel was as she appeared to me on that first day - happy and full of life. Love is eternal; may your love for her and your memories sustain you until you meet again.

Gretal...was a special lady. Always so warm and friendly to everyone. When I first was dating my husband Karl Wagner Jr. He already had a very defined social group. Gretal..and Fern Lutfy welcomed me with open arms into the group. Gretal..was one of a kind. I never saw her at work at the Metzger's establishment of Apple Valley without very high heels on her feet. All day. Whether she was hostessing, waitressing..., bartending, busing tables. She wore high heels. Our condolences to all her family. May all their memories of their extraordinary mom sustain them. Milford might never be the same without her. I know we will miss her .

Gretel had no qualms about speaking up and speaking her mind...always in a positive light. Such as the many times when I used to dress up for church and she would comment on my earrings. 'Really?' I would say....'I shed my barn clothes for church and you only comment on my earrings?' 'Well', she would quickly add, ' they help light up your face.' We would laugh about her quick-witted 'saves'. Her sons are a tribute to her community minded spirit and I feel blessed to have known her.

Gretel was a very special person. If you needed a friend or help with anything, Gretel would be there. She didn’t want to be thanked, just wanted to know what else she could do to help. A compliment embarrassed her because her thoughts were never about herself, but always about others.
We played bridge together for 55 years and later on we discovered mahjongg, adding that to all the other things we did together. When we were young with children in school, we’d drive to the City dressed in high heels and our best clothes. Gretel loved New York where we went to a matinee on Broadway with fine dining chosen by taking turns picking and shopping of course.
We raised our children together and had many adventures at zoos, parks with picnics, and attractions
Everywhere. Gretel loved to travel and even took her grandchildren with her often.
She just couldn’t do enough for people in need and it brought her joy whenever she could make a difference.
I am the last of our bridge and mahjong group and my memories of this special lady and the life we led together will be with me forever. We always ended our phone conversations with “love you”, so this is my last love you, and I know all my friends are up there waiting for me to play another game.
I love you Gretel
