Dad, Thank you for being my dad. I will miss you and love you always. Words aren’t enough to explain how good you were to friends, family, mom and me. Dad - you taught me about honesty, integrity, compassion and empathy.
I will never forget that you showed me how to ride a bike, turn a screwdriver and a wrench, shoot a gun, drive an atv, race RC cars and drive a car and how to go FAST! I will always remember going to visit you at True Value and seeing everyone. You even introduced me to my best friend Clark, and we played for hours and hours at the store and in the back fields. I hated all those soccer practices you made me go too and never missed one. But I understand why you did and it has made me who I am today.
You taught me to always take care of animals
and to this day…If I see a worm on the ground, I promise to bury it at least 6 inches down in the dirt.
Sorry that I missed all those fun years, but the Army had plans for me, but when it was over. I came straight home.

From my early childhood I have the fondest memories of Roger while visiting my best friend. Never a bad word spoken of anyone, I can still vaguely smell the odor of gasoline that he constantly bathed in while cleaning his engine parts, while having quirky little sayings to go along with any situation. The borehog (Gary)and I would play in and out of the many cars and trucks around the garage while playing army, while Roger would tell us tall tails of his army days. Bar none the best mechanic in Sussex county he helped us all fix our mowers and small engines, dirt bikes and the like, later on that turned to cars and trucks of our own. We grew older, as his stories changed with us never getting old. He was so very proud of Gary going away to first military school then onto the army, he was now living through him in ways that he never experienced. While Gary was away I would stop at the store and visit sometimes getting to help him fix something, it was a very useful time of my life it helped me learn to mcguyver stuff lol, but still the stories, always stories. His knees were so bad he could barely stand let alone walk ( from kneeling on that concrete all thoughs years) he got one fixed and refused to go to therapy because it hurt so bad but really I think he didn’t want to spend the money, that was his down fall the beginning of the end for him a long life of pain , but he would keep going because that’s all he knew, work and more work not ever refusing to help someone in need. That’s the memory I’m sharing, there are so many more, for another time maybe. God bless old friend.
