Obituary of Gladys D. Vosseler

Gladys Dorothy Vosseler (nee Schwenk) Gladys D. Vosseler, 95, of North Bergen, NJ passed away in the loving care of her daughter on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. She was born in West Orange, NJ and was one of eight children. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 45 years, William A. Vosseler, who passed on in 1990. The 21st marked what would have been their 75th wedding anniversary. Gladys was a graduate of Union Hill High School in New Jersey and had worked as a clerk prior to meeting Bill, after which she helped with his landscaping business and served as a caring housewife and mom. She was President/Treasure for Golden Age Club in North Bergen New Jersey. She loved organizing the club’s trips, especially ones to Atlantic City where she was often very successful. She was a wiz at bingo! Gladys was an incredible, self-taught seamstress, making beautiful clothes for her family. She loved to crochet and kept everyone well stocked with potholders and other gifts. She was also a fantastic baker, especially at Christmas time. She always made a wonderful assortment of cakes and pies. Her grandsons loved her over-stuffed chocolate chip cookies with walnuts and raisins! She loved to plant flowers and maintained a lovely garden late into her 80’s. She enjoyed feeding the birds and was thrilled to see the occasional Cardinal. She loved to dote on her grandsons. They especially recall enjoying her Friday dinners and playing Yahtzee with her and Grandpa. She lived on her own after Bill passed, wanting to stay close to her roots and enjoying her independence. Gladys maintained an active schedule into her 90’s. She is survived by her loving daughter, Ellen Simeone of Milford Pa; her grandsons Ken and Michael Tattersall; grand-daughter-in-law’s Lori and Liz; great-grandchildren Emily, Riley, Jessie and Ryan (“pups” Molly, Maggie and Bandit too); brothers Robert and Joseph and many nieces and nephews. “Angels fly high as they carry no burdens.” Eileen Freeman May you find peace in eternal life with Bill, free of all worry, cared for together in the Lord’s spirit. God Bless our memories of you. Burial will be private at convenience of the family at the Ridgefield Cemetery, Ridgefield, NJ. Arrangements were made by Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford St., Milford, PA 18337 (www.stroyanfuneralhome.com).
