Obituary of Arvette Darcel Segar-Osby

Arvette Darcel Segar-Osby was born into this world to the late Harold and Dorothy Segar on July 27, 1963. She was the first born of five children.

Arvette received her education at Long Island City High School (LIC) in Queens, New York.  Shortly after graduation she then attended John Jay College in Manhattan where she received her bachelor's degree.  Arvette began her work of service with the federal government at the age of 18.  Her love for her job propelled her to stay until retirement after 37 years of faithful service.

Arvette enjoyed long vacations with her husband and her travel buddies. She also enjoyed hosting fun family BBQ’s with her husband at their home.  Arvette was an avid sports fanatic (except for hockey), she could sit for hours and discuss sports with the best of them.  Her favorite time of the year was during March Madness.

Arvette knew her way around the kitchen, she was a great cook especially in the baking department. She tremendously enjoyed reading, so much so that as a young girl she found herself getting into lots of trouble when she would sneak and read with a flashlight during bedtime.

Arvette was proceeded in death by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Segar and her niece, Kristina Walker.  She leaves to cherish her memories; husband, Cleo Osby, Jr; sisters, Kim Segar, Lisa McCalla, Paula Tracy (Terrance); brother, Adesina Tayo (Stephanie); sister-in-law/close friend, Karen Osby; step-daughter, Q’asia Robinson; step-son, Keone Osby; granddaughter, Naiyelli; nieces, Bria Parrish, Brittany Davis (Shaquielle), Nala McCalla, Gabrielle Tracy, Keisha Diaz; nephews, Trevor McCalla, Joey Diaz, Jason Osby; great nieces, Scarlet, Kiara, Gianna; great nephews, Brian and Justin. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of friends and family.
