I have many fond memories of spending time with Cathy at her house. Her mom was always welcoming and caring. She was so active and busy and helped everyone. I was in awe of all the things she did in the community. It made an impression on me as a child and teenager. Michele and Kelly, your mom was one special lady. May you be comforted by your memories and know that she is in a better place. God Bless. Marci Basham Alderfer

My heartfelt condolences go out to Michele, Kelly, and the entire Drake and Lapriore families. I will always remember fondly Jane agreeing to let me become a team member of the bus-boy crew that she was in charge of at the Evergreen restaurant. Thank you, Jane, for helping me build a valuable work ethic that served me well during my career. The loss of one’s parent is obviously devastating Michele and Kelly but rest assured that your mom is at peace in the kingdom of heaven.

I remember Jane after meeting her for the first time in her kitchen when I spent the night with my friend Michele in 10th grade who would later become my sister-in-law after high school. Jane was always busy in the kitchen making her cakes, which she was famous for, and I was very impressed by her baking & cake decorating skills.
She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the head of the family. I would see her many times when I would attend parties for my brother and sister-in-law and their family, and Jane was always in attendance spending time with her family.
Jane was such a sweet and kind lady who was always there to help out anyone in need. She will be dearly missed by my sister-in-law/friend and family, her sister, Kelly & Carl as well as the extended family and many friends she had within her community as well as myself.
My heart breaks for Michele, who was always there to help her Mom out in her later years, as she goes through this difficult process of grieving.
All my love,
Mary Alice Odom

I took over the responsibilities of tax collector from my girl Jane. That was a tough transition! When I did something just a little differently from Jane the folks were not always happy. They would always remind me how Jane did it. Her people loved her! And, so did I! She spent alot of time helping me understand the process. She was so accomodating; always had time for me. She was a wonderful mentor for which I am so greatful! She was funny, smart, caring and full of energy. I was so in awe of her! I learned so much about our community from her. She loved Matamoras!
My heart is broken; we've lost a really good one! My thoughts and prayers are with her family. May you all find strength knowing she is with her Lord and with her loved ones who have been waiting for her.

As one of the local Boy Scout leaders, I had the pleasure of meeting Jane some years ago when our scouts became more involved with the Veterans Cemetery group. She was a wonderful woman that was amazingly gracious, accommodating and just a true joy to spend time with. Her enthusiasm for the kids and sharing the knowledge and importance of the cemetery was always a breathe of fresh air. On behalf of myself and my family, Jane may you find peace eternal and thoughts and prayers to your friends and family.

Growing up In Matamoras several families did everything together. Vacations , holidays etc. Michelle, Cathy and Kelly were my sisters from another mother and I loved it because I had 2 brothers. Jane was just one of those moms you just loved like your own. I stopped to visit when I came up there for my class reunion. She hadn't changed a bit. Rest Easy Jane. Rest in Jesus' arms. Heaven has gained a special Angel.say hello to mom and dad for me
