I remember Riley and his parents coming to scouts with my kids. He was always such a fun and outgoing kid. Our families ran local 5k races including the Turkey Trot. Riley was always so proud to run with his father Brian and friends. I always remember seeing him with the biggest smile. During the scouts Pinewood Derby, I was so happy seeing Riley come back from behind to win first place against my child in one of the races. The joy he showed was priceless. That’s a memory I recall all the time when speaking of pinewood races. Riley will truly be missed.

Today we held a funeral service for Riley. But I came away from the service not completely sad, but inspired. Inspired by the love and comments of his classmates, teachers, family, pastor and church members. I want to keep Riley in my heart everyday. I believe I can do that by giving a “Riley” smile when I walk into a room. To make each day better for everyone. To find the new “kid” and welcome them. To encourage those who are struggling. To help each person be better. These are some of the lessons I learned from today’s service. Things I should have been doing already. I pray each one of you will do the same. It will make Riley smile!

I whole heartedly agree with your every word, "Uncle Scott"! This beautiful child deserves this tragedy not to have been in vain. Make it "cool" to be kind. My heart hurts so much when I think of Riley, so sweet, so happy & so sad on the inside. My heart hurts for your family. I admire your strength & wanting to honor Riley's memory. I have thought about this constantly since hearing of this tragic loss. Be that kid who cares. God Bless & Be With Your family. For Riley :)

I remember Riley as a little boy with red hair who was always happy, always smiling, and always eager to learn. My heart is heavy with condolences for his family at this time of crushing loss. I pray they can find solace in knowing that their Riley is now at peace in the comforting arms of Jesus.

I am Riley's pastor. I love him. He had a sense of caring and compassion for everyone. He played hard, he laughed hard, and I will miss him. I will work harder to know what is going on under the surface in the lives of people but especially young people because of Riley. I am absolutely certain that God was the first to shed a tear when Riley's life on earth came to an end. I am certain that Riley would tell us all to love one another deeply and to help people through the difficult times of their lives. Love ya Riley. Along the way, PN
