Obituary of Joan E. Ryan

Joan Ryan, 93, of Lords Valley, PA, passed away at home on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

 

The daughter of the late Sonya Ehrlinger and Louis Breasett, she was born on November 19, 1930 in New York City. Throughout her life she lived in several locations in NY, including The Bronx and Yonkers before moving to Lords Valley, PA in 2018.

 

Joan worked as a model for a few years, before working at the New York Times, and later as a buyer for tall women’s clothes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Frank Ryan. They were married in December 1972 in Las Vegas. She and Frank loved to travel all over the world whether by airplane or cruise. They attended over 100 Broadway shows together and loved going to Las Vegas to see some of the greats perform as well. She was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.

 

Joan is survived by her son, Richard Ruberto and his wife, Carol, of Lords Valley, PA; sisters Sonya St Francis (Jerry, deceased), Bonnie Barnette (Doug); nephews Richard (Linda) and Robert, nieces Jill (Tom), Juliet, Ashley (Kevin); and several grandnephews and grandnieces. She is also survived by her cat, Inspector, who already misses her.

 

A viewing will be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Monday, January 8 from 1 to 4 PM with funeral services at 3:30 PM. services can be viewed on the following Zoom link (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8030616100) Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery,  Hawthorne, NY on Tuesday, January 9.
