Obituary of Kyle Joseph Rickards

Kyle Joseph Rickards, of Greentown, Pa, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Blooming Grove Township, PA. Much too young, Kyle was only 25 years old. His family and friends are shocked and devastated by this unexpected loss.

Kyle was born on August 17, 1998, in Honesdale, Pa., to Kristine Windish-Rickards and James Rickards Sr. In 2016, Kyle finally decided to take out Amanda Morgan, who would become his fiancé of 7 years.

Kyle brightened the lives around him. He was caring, compassionate, patient, always smiling, and always there to help anyone in need. Even after his death, his generosity shows no bounds as he became a Gift of Life Donor.

In 2016, Kyle graduated high school, after which he would become one of the most talented and smartest kids when it came to anything mechanical. He was a mechanic for Lords Valley Towing and Salvage in Lords Valley, PA. Any job that came his way, he figured it out. He was a mechanic, a fabricator, but most of all he was a grease monkey. He loved to work on vehicles, taking pride in the work he would do, but always humble.

When he wasn’t climbing into engine bays, Kyle was climbing over rocks, downed trees, and plowing through puddles with the Jeep he built, or taking cruises in the Camaro after completing his first personal engine rebuild. He would deafen everyone when taking out his diesel Suburban that absolutely needed the bigger turbo upgrade that he crafted to make fit.

But he was also so much more than a mechanic. As much as his passion was for vehicles, he also loved to shoot his artillery of guns. He was often taunted by the numerous deer that would come through the backyard to be fed, as he would help throw out bread for them. He loved to listen to music and go on late night drives, have late night conversations no matter how exhausted he would be the following day. He was a thrill seeker, always hyped for the biggest roller coaster or other daring adventures. He loved the outdoors, trail walking and finding peace in the tranquility of nature, despite the occasional bears that would make an appearance.

Kyle is survived by his fiancé, Amanda Morgan; parents, Kristine Windish-Rickards and James Rickards Sr.; three brothers, Michael Rickards, James Rickards, Jr., and Jonathan Rickards. He is survived by his extended family, father-in-law, Roland Morgan Jr. and mother-in-law, Cynthia Morgan; sister-in-law, Heather Morgan-Baumann; brothers-in-laws, Christopher Morgan, Lance Morgan, Bruce Morgan, and Roland Morgan III. He is also survived by his grandparents, Barbara Windish, Henry Windish, and James E. Rickards Jr.; his Aunt Heather, Aunt Gail, Aunt Karen, Uncle Craig, and Uncle John, and well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

While many of us feel his loss as we are left here without him, there were many waiting to meet him on the other side. He is now surrounded by his Uncle Fran, his Grandmom Rickards, his dog Charlie and Parakeet Polly, and the many friends that he has lost over the years.

Kyle became such an extraordinary man who held a place in the heart of everyone he met.

A viewing will be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 12 to 2 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 2 PM with Rev. Keith Raser officiating.
