Obituary of Robert A Brumbaugh

Robert (Bob) Brumbaugh, peacefully passed away of natural causes in his home on August 30th four hours before his 90th birthday.

Bob was born in White Plains, NY on August 31, 1933. He was the son of Budde and Emma Brumbaugh and grew up along the Delaware River in beautiful Dingman’s Ferry. He learned to hunt and fish and developed his lifelong love of the outdoors. Bob graduated from Milford High School. After graduation, he attended East Stroudsburg University and then entered the Navy and served for four years. Following his honorable discharge, Bob attended Penn State University where he was a member of Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity and graduated with a BA in Arts and Letters. While at Penn State, Bob developed a great love for Penn State football, met his wife, Judy Stout, and married in 1962.

Bob and Judy moved to Camp Hill, PA where Bob worked a civilian position with the Naval Fleet Material Support Office. There he and Judy raised their two daughters and lived until his retirement in 1989. Bob and Judy moved back to Milford, PA to enjoy retirement years in the beautiful outdoors of Pike County. Bob loved spending time fishing on the Delaware and other Pike County waters. In the winter months, Bob was an avid hunter and hosted numerous hunting expeditions for his friends. Over a period of 45 years Bob loved his five German Shorthaired Pointers. In his later years, Bob was very active and volunteered at the United Methodist Church of Dingman’s Ferry. He also fell in love with Balch’s prime rib and spent a lot of evenings there enjoying the warm hospitality of Julie, Grace, Joe and the rest of the staff.

Bob is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Kaley McHale (Colin) and Susan Lytle (Michael); granddaughters, Emma McHale, Madison Lytle, Sophie Lytle and grandson, Julian McHale.

Bob’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful neighbors, church staff, caregivers and Hospice nurses who provided unwavering support, comfort, and kindness during this time. Your acts of compassion were a source of strength for our family. Whether it was a warm meal, a helping hand, or a simple word of encouragement, your presence meant the world to us.

A graveside service will be held in the Milford Cemetery on Tuesday, October 10th at 11am.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Dingmans Ferry United Methodist Church, 115 Myck Road, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania 18328.
