First, my condolences to the Weeks family. I did not know of Dean Weeks passing until it was in the most recent Pierce Magazine. I had the pleasure of having Dean Weeks as a professor when I attended Franklin Pierce College in 1990-1994. I had him for one class but he was involved with Phi Alpha Theta, which I was a part of, and had many chats with him at events and meetings. We spoke a lot about European history and the Cold War and where the world would be heading into the 21st century. He was a kind man, calling me the morning of my exam that I had overslept for and suggested that I should come to class, if that was not to much of a bother for me. I always tell that story to my students at some point in the year, which usually gets a laugh and makes me remember how much he and other professors helped guide a very young, eager and somewhat talkative student. He was one of the great professors that I had that helped shape my love of my subject and how to teach it in a way that can be accessible to the history and non-history students alike. I was very lucky to have him as a professor and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
