Herr Wentz was my German teacher for 4 years from 1973 to 1977. He was an excellent teacher from whom I acquired a thorough understanding of the German language. I took 1 year of German in college but the professor did not even compare to Mr. Wentz, Leider habe ich viel vergessen (Unfortunately I forgot a lot of German) but I still remember some of what I learned at DV. I certainly remember reading the story Germelshausen in Mr. Wentz's class. Besides being a good German teacher, he was very nice guy to talk to do especially about the great outdoors. My condolences goes out to his family.

Mr. Wentz was a joy to know as a student. I was in his class for all four years in high school. He was diligent, patient, and devoted as a teacher. In senior year, I didn't want more workload and responsibility, but I still wanted to be in his class and learn German, so he let me sit in during my free period. What a sweet and witty person he was.i have kept up my German language skills over the years because of him, and I've kept some of his expressions with me along the way. My thoughts are with his family.

Herr Wentz was a wonderful teacher and a very kind and gentle man. He was my German teacher for all 4 of my years at DVHS. We regularly passed his house to and from our house and he would always wave. I can remember him with his young children from whom he seemed to draw such joy! When my father taught math at DVHS for a couple of years he enjoyed many conversations with Herr Wentz. I can remember as a child, well before high school, going on a few hikes with my family and several of the teachers and their families, including Herr Wentz. My deepest sympathies to his family, children, grand-children and friends. Rest in Peace.

Werner was a good friend and colleague. Larry and he were golfing, fishing, and hunting buddies, and I know he treasures the memories of the good times they had together. Werner was also a gracious host, and I always appreciated his dinner parties and other get-togethers. Werner loved to hike. One of my most memorable times with him was a trip he, Connie, Rick and Nancy Staffieri, and Larry and I went into New York City, where—somehow—he convinced us to walk from Uptown diagonally through Central Park to Lincoln Center, where we had parked. Connie and I destroyed our shoes in what became known as Werner’s forced march. Thanks for the memories, Werner. Rest In Peace.

Werner was a truly unique person. He was the epitome of a Renaissance Man—a scholar, an intellectual (with common sense), an athlete, outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, golfer, hiker, and skier. He could fix or build almost everything. He was a true friend, and we will all miss him and the adventures we had together.

I adored him. I was a new teacher, when all the teachers met were seasoned . I taught multiple disciplines , which was tough. Werner was so kind and helpful, I was so distressed when he retired. I said, “What ami going to do without you ?” He said he was done. Happy for retirement . Then I saw him , caring for Laurel Grove with Bill Webster. It was so nice to see him and Bill. God rest his soul. I am lucky to have met him and he was so kind . My condolences to his family
