Obituary of Stella Muniz

Stella Muniz (Iglesias), 98 years old, of Lords Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 15, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

The daughter of Avelino and Frances Iglesias, she arrived from Spain to the United States as a young child and was raised in NYC. She married her husband of 64 years, Primitivo J. Muniz (Peter). They moved to Rockland County NY in 1955 where they raised their 7 children. Stella had an infectious laugh and was always a favorite to have around for family and friends alike. Along with managing home life and children, she started her employment career at the Rockland County Health Center as an administrative secretary. Upon retirement in 1993, Stella and Pete moved to their dream home in Hemlock Farms PA, where they enjoyed 25 plus years together. Stella, always a reading enthusiast, volunteered at the Hemlock Farms library for years and also served on the Library Board there. A latecomer to Tai Chi she was able to stay active for many years participating in Hemlock Farms’ classes. Stella lived a long and happy life. She was known for her cheerful and pleasant disposition and will be missed deeply by her family and friends. 

She is predeceased by her parents, Avelino and Frances Iglesias, husband Peter J Muniz, brother Joe Iglesias and grandson Nicholas Muniz. Stella is survived by her seven children and their spouses/partners; Sandra Lieberman (Bob Lieberman), Roxanne Lewis (Ted Lewis), Gary Muniz (Chris Muniz), Dawn Geyer (John Geyer), Keith Muniz (Marie Muniz), Danielle Sindt (Dan Sindt) and Adrienne Muniz (Tara Laiosa), as well as 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.   She is also survived by her sister, Iris Quinones, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 2PM at the Church at Hemlock Farms, Lords Valley, PA 18428.
