Obituary of Emmi Miethe

Emmi Miethe of Milford, PA entered into rest on April 14, 2023, at home surrounded by family. Emmi was born in Krndija, Croatia, Yugoslavia and is of German descent. She was brought to this country in 1951, along with her family, through Catholic Charities after WW II. Emmi met her husband, Richard Miethe, Jr. in Port Jervis, NY and enjoyed 60 years of life together. Not speaking the American language, Emmi was a self-made, self-taught woman. Together with her husband they owned and operated various businesses during their life together, which included an egg business, multiple delicatessens and finally a refuse hauling business.

 

Emmi started her new life in America as a sewing machine operator at Andmore Swim Suit Factory, Port Jervis, NY. She was a talented seamstress, loved cooking and entertaining family and friends, had an insatiable desire to read, loved dancing with her life partner, and growing any type of vegetable or flower plant. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for many years, loved to bowl and was a part of a Woman’s Bowling League.

 

Emmi is survived by her two daughters Elizabeth Hulse of Milford, PA, Linda Burlingame and her husband David of Yardley, PA; grandchildren: Caitlin Hulse of Milford, PA, Jared Hulse and his wife Kayla of Bernville, PA; great grandson Jaxon plus various cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased in rest by her husband Richard “Dick” Miethe, Jr., her older sister Eva Reitenbach of Ohio and her youngest brother Steven Kramer of Clifton, NJ.

 

Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 4 to 6 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Montague Cemetery, Montague, NJ.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Cancer Foundation or Heart Association.
