Obituary of Philomae S. Donovan

Philomae S. Donovan, 88, of Lackawaxen, PA passed away on September 28, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. She was the former Postmistress at the Lackawaxen Post Office in Lackawaxen, PA.

Philomae was active in the Ladies Auxiliary for the Lackawaxen Fire Department, Lackawaxen, PA and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ecker-Haupt VFW Post 5635, Greeley, PA.  She traveled extensively and particularly enjoyed trips to Alaska and Ireland. Philomae also loved her dogs, the latest one was Dusty.

The daughter of the late Edward and Laura (Sylvia) Kashuboski, she was born on July 16, 1934 in Nanticoke, PA. She was married to the late John “Jack” Donovan, who preceded her in death on June 10, 2005.  

Philomae is survived by her daughter, Denise Donovan of Lackawaxen, PA; sons, John Donovan of Shohola, PA and Michael Donovan of Lackawaxen, PA.  Philomae was preceded in death by her daughter Maureen Donovan in 1974.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, October 7, 2022 at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 125 Richardson Ave., Shohola, PA with Reverend Edward J. Casey officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Shohola, PA.

Memorial donations may be made in Philomae’s memory to Lackawaxen Fire Department (774 PA-590, Lackawaxen, PA 18435), Lackawaxen  Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW in Greeley, PA.
