Obituary of James L. Mooney
Milford, PA- James L. Mooney, age 87, a long-time resident of Ridgewood, NJ passed away on June 15, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Doris, daughter Mary Mooney of Shohola, PA, daughter Julia Goulding and her husband Bernard of Newton, MA, and son James, Jr., and wife Susan of Ridgewood. He was the loving grandfather of Katherine Altieri and her husband David of Hoboken, James III of Los Angeles, and Patrick of Ridgewood. James was great grandfather to Caroline and Madeleine Altieri.
Born in Chicago, Il, James spent his high school years in San Diego, CA where he met his wife, Doris. James attended Columbia University in NYC, where he played football for Lou Little who had previously coached his father at Georgetown University.
After graduating from Columbia, James began a distinguished 40-year career which took him into the world of finance and commercial real estate working for firms including Merrill Lynch and Landauer Associates where he retired as Chairman and CEO.
In retirement James led an active life volunteering his time for notable causes including serving as a board member of the Delaware Valley School District.
James and Doris spent many winters in Naples, FL where they enjoyed golf and the companionship of old and new friends.
James will be remembered for his strong faith, keen intellect, ceaseless work ethic, dry wit, and his unyielding love and compassion for his wife, children, and his grand and great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 111 East High St., Milford, PA on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10 AM with Rev. Joseph Manarchuk officiating.
