Paul “Smokey” F. Hartman, Jr. of Milford, PA passed away on April 28, 2022 at Newton Medical Center at the age of 74.

The son of the late Paul F. and Evelyn Hartman, Sr., he was born in Jersey City, NJ. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/one bronze star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal.

Paul was retired from the Sussex County Road Department and was a former Volunteer firefighter for the Delaware Township Fire Company for many years. He continued to enjoy watching baseball and football throughout the years with family and friends. He loved to be anywhere near the water, especially spending family vacations in OBX and fishing on his favorite lakes. His greatest joy though, was being the best “Poppy” to his three loving grandchildren.

Paul leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Barbara (Ernst) Hartman; three daughters Allison Kozej & her husband John, Lindsey Hartman, Taylor Hartman & her partner JP Jones; sister Jane Webb; grandchildren Brennan Paul Kozej (6), Lainey Kozej (4), Savannah Jones (2);  several nieces and nephews, in-laws, many friends and grand-dogs Penny and Andre.

A memorial service will be held at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 110 W Catharine Street, Milford, PA 18337 on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 1 P.M. with the Rev. Van Bankston officiating.
