Obituary of Janice Elizabeth DeFebo
Janice E. DeFebo, 81 passed away on April 14, 2022 from a long term illness at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born on January 1, 1941 in Minisink Ford, NY, Janice was a life-long resident of Lackawaxen, PA. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1959 and was married to Edward J. DeFebo on April 8th, 1961. Janice along with her husband owned and operated Jungle Jim’s Tavern in Lackawaxen for 22 years. She also was a long time Pike County Government employee. She was a member of the Lackawaxen Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Pike County Council of Republican Women. She enjoyed many things including sitting by the river, snowmobiling, and bowling. Janice was a loving and compassionate daughter, wife, mother and friend.
She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years Edward J. DeFebo, Sr., her brother William Weeks, her sons William Sr. and James, and grandson William Jr. Survived by sons Edward and wife Sandra, East Stroudsburg, PA, Charles and wife Cynthia, Shohola, PA, grandchildren Tonya, Nicole, Rebecca, Nicholas, Joseph, Cameron, and Clayton and many great grandchildren.
Graveside services will take place at the Lackawaxen Cemetery, Lackawaxen, PA. on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11 AM with Rev. Edward Casey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Ann's Church, PO Box 86, Shohola, PA 18458.
