Obituary of Catherine Brethel

Catherine Brethel, 95, of Milford, PA passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Matamoras, PA. She worked for Nassau County Department of Health, Hempstead, NY and was a devout member of the St. Vincent de Paul Church, Milford, PA.

 

The daughter of the late Thomas A. and Catherine (Connelly) Hanley, she was born on May 25, 1926, in Manhattan.  She was married to Joseph P. Brethel, Jr. who preceded her in death on September 21, 2006.   They were happily married for 59 years.

 

Catherine leaves behind six loving children: Joseph Brethel and his wife Francine; Thomas Brethel; Michael Brethel; Stephen Brethel and his wife Patricia; Dr. Maureen Brethel; Richard Brethel and his wife Dolores; her twelve grandchildren: Michael, Jacquelyn, Christopher, Katie, Kimberly, Kyle, Gregory, Brendan, Samantha, Danielle, Brian and Kevin; and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Catherine was preceded in death by her daughters-in-law, Sue Brethel and Geri Brethel.

 

Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford St., Milford, PA 18337 on March 17, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on March 18, 2022, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 101 Saint Vincent Dr, Milford, PA 18337 with Rev. John Boyle officiating. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery, Dingman Twp., PA.
