Obituary of Leroy Charles Cron

Leroy Charles Cron, 87 years old of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, the Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Matamoras, Pennsylvania.

 

Mr. Cron was born February 18, 1934, at Rosencrans Hospital in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania the son of the late Charles A. and Lillian O. (Smith) Cron. He was a lifelong resident of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania.

 

Leroy started his early working career in carpentry work alongside his father. After graduating from Milford High School, Class of 1951, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962. He then worked for Dewey B. Kingston Construction Company for over 40 years building many homes and buildings in Pike County and the Poconos. In 1994, he was employed for the Pike County Commissioners as Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement in 2001, he worked part time for the Dingmans Choice and Delaware Bridge Company working maintenance.

 

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a “Jack of all Trades” he could fix anything. He built furniture, rebuilt his 1940 Ford Coupe Deluxe Car and loved Nascar Racing. He was a member of the Dingmans Ferry-Delaware Township Historical Society and the Country Cruisers Car Club.

 

Leroy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roberta (Bobbie) Findlay Cron and his sons; Charles L. and Robert L. of Burbank, California. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris M. Cron.

 

Leroy’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Residential (Hospice) Healthcare of NEPA caregivers, Jillyn, Layleen, Clover and Victoria for all they have done for Leroy and his family.

 

Graveside services will be held 11 AM  on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Delaware Cemetery with Rev. Sungduk Kim officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dingmans Ferry-Delaware Township Historical Society, 116 Wilson Hill Road, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania 18328.
