Obituary of George Q. Aber

George Quentin Aber, 92, of Dingmans Ferry, PA passed away on September 13, 2021 at home in Birchwood Lakes.  Born in Scranton, PA, he met and married his high school sweetheart, Jane (Allard) Aber after graduation from Cranston High School in Rhode Island.  They were married for 73 years and until Jane’s death earlier this year in January, they were inseparable and very active.

After serving in the Army in El Paso, TX, they moved to Succasunna, NJ where George worked for over 30 years at Bell Labs in Whippany.   George was active in the Ledgewood Baptist Church where he served as deacon, substitute organist and annual Peach Festival Director.

Upon retirement, they moved to the lake house in Birchwood Lakes and George continued his passion for gardening and creating things from wood.  George and Jane were very active in the Dingmans Ferry United Methodist Church including Bible Study and the wood carving group. George volunteered on the Birchwood Lakes Beautification committee for many years, and was also a member of the American Legion, Post 851.  George will be remembered for his clever wit, ability to make friends, and his giving nature.

George is survived by his daughter, Anita and husband Glenn Schweizer; two grandsons Colin Schweizer and wife Alli, and Ian Schweizer; two great grandchildren, Neil and Addison; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
