Obituary of John Thomas Hale

John Thomas Hale, 89 of Lords Valley ,Pa passed away Saturday, August 28 , 2021 at Grace Park Senior Living. Born on January 21, 1932 in Miners Mills PA, he was the son of the late Aloysius Hale and Sarah (Burns) Hale.

 

John was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Grace. He is survived by daughter and son- in-law Mary Ann and Glenn Strys of Lords Valley, PA, son and daughter-in- law Richard and Julie Hale of Saint Augustine, Florida; grandchildren, Michael and Monica Hale of Orlando, Florida and Matthew Hale and his fiancé Candice Prince, of Gainesville, Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his sister Marion Speicher and his brother Thomas Hale.

 

John enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War and attained the rank of Electrician  Mate Second Class . After leaving the Navy, John worked as an electrician at General Electric before joining the Philadelphia Police Department, rising to the position of detective. Upon leaving the Philadelphia Police Department, John began a long career at the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, eventually retiring in 1991 as the Director of Enforcement.

 

A viewing will be held at St John Neumann Church, Lords Valley, PA on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 10 to 11AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St John Neumann Church, Lords Valley, PA on Thursday, September 2 , 2021 at 11AM with Rev. Edward Casey officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA.
