Obituary of Katherine E. Ruzanski

Katherine Elsie Ruzanski, 83, of Matamoras, PA passed away on July 2, 2021, in Matamoras, PA.

 

Katherine (Moffitt) Ruzanski was born in Newark, NJ to Irwin Moffitt and Katherine (Miner) Moffitt on May 26, 1938. She was raised in Nutley, NJ. She married Eugene J. Ruzanski, Sr. on April 4, 1968. She lived in Shohola, PA for over 30 years before moving to Matamoras, PA. She worked for NJ Bell Telephone, Prudential Insurance, Twin Cedars Assisted Living Center, The U.S. Census and was a self-employed housekeeper in the Twin Lakes area of Shohola, PA for many years.

 

Katherine, also known as “Grammy-Kat” loved baking, crafting, crocheting, and spending time with all of her family and friends. She was a devout member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Milford, PA; a past-president and member of the Mary and Martha Chapter of the Daughters of the King, Milford, PA; a past-president and secretary of the A.A.R.P., Chapter 3455, Milford, PA; a past cubmaster for Boys Scouts of America, Troop 71, Milford, PA; a committee member for Troop 173, Port Jervis, NY; past-treasurer for the Shohola Athletic Recreation Association (S.A.R.A), Shohola, PA; past-president of the Smith-Nelson Shohola Elementary School, Shohola, PA;  former leader of the 4-H Cooking Club, Matamoras, PA and a dedicated volunteer of the Milford Ecumenical Food Pantry, Milford, PA.

 

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene J. Ruzanski, Sr.

 

Katherine is survived by her son, Eugene J. Ruzanski, Jr. and his wife, Janette Ruzanski; her two grandsons, Owen Ruzanski and Chase Ruzanski, of Shohola, PA and many other close family and friends.

 

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. August 14, 2021, at Good Shepherd Church, Milford, PA. A private cremation was made at the convenience of the family.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ecumenical Food Pantry of Pike County, 321 5th Street, Milford, PA 18337.
