Obituary of Sharon L. Hornig

Sharon L. (Donkersloot) Hornig, 62, of Shohola, PA, passed away at home Thursday, June 24, 2021.

She was born on September 11, 1958 in Passaic, NJ to Aaron and the late Cecelia Donkersloot. Sharon was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School and County College of Morris where she earned her degree in nursing. She spent many years as a Registered Nurse at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, NJ, retiring in November 2016.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, George H. Hornig Jr.,  three children - Theresa Slemp and her husband Jeffery of Shrewsbury, PA, Jeffrey Hornig and Melissa Tyskewicz of Dingmans Ferry, PA, and Michelle Hornig of Shohola, - and four treasured grandchildren – Tracy, Jacob, Caleb, and Lylah Slemp. She is also survived by her father, Aaron Donkersloot of Oak Ridge, NJ, three beloved sisters – Cecelia Kusha and her husband Gary, Karen Morrow and Ernie Hensley, and Joyce Donkersloot, loving nieces and nephew – Nicole (Kusha) Alunni, Lauren (Kusha) Dowling, Victoria (Morrow) Harris, and Richard Morrow, numerous extended family that loved her so and her German Shepherd, Cookie.

Sharon will be remembered for her love for her family and friends, her warm and generous heart and her infectious laughter.

Friends and family are welcome for visitation at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford Street, Milford PA on Tuesday June 29, 2021 from 4 to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at 8 PM
