Mr. Panay (and yes, I can hear you telling me to call you Peter), you welcomed me so warmly into your home years ago and helped me to feel like family so quickly and naturally. I was not surprised to hear of how strong your heart beat until the very end as I always found you to be the heart of the Panay family — unconditionally supporting, accepting, and protecting those that you loved. You were looked to as and will always be remembered as a hero and as the rock (and also as someone who I’ll remember loved Frasier, cooking, and cooking shows, and had a really great skill in giving nicknames that stuck). The moments I’ve shared with you in Milford and Portland, and moments that will continue to be shared with those who were touched by you and your presence, will keep your memory alive in our hearts.
To Mrs. Panay, Matt, Laura, Mary, Johnny, Andy and the whole family: I know the loss is enormous, and I hope you will find peace in the coming days, weeks, and years remembering all the love and memories he has shared with you. May his spirit continue to beat strong in your hearts.
