Obituary of Jane Lee Aber
A Life Well Lived
Jane Lee Aber , 92, of Dingman's Ferry Pa. died peacefully at home early Sunday morning Jan. 10, 2021 under the loving care of her high school sweetheart, best friend, and husband of 73 years - George Quentin Aber.
Jane was born in Rhode Island and met George at Cranston High. They were married soon after graduation and worked at her father's general store until George was drafted into the Army. After serving in El Paso Texas they moved to Succasunna, NJ.
Jane worked as a bookkeeper for Roxbury Water Co. for 17 years. She was very involved with the Ledgewood Baptist Church, was a Girl Scout leader and member of the Sunrise Park Sewing Club which tan rummage sales, hosted block parties and yearly visits on Christmas Eve by Santa & his Elves throughout the neighborhood.
After retirement Jane & George moved to Dingman's Ferry Pa. where they joined the United Methodist Church and the Birchwood Lakes Assoc. She attended Bible Study and a wood-carving group where when specialized in wood-burning.
Jane was an avid reader especially interested in Art, Antiques, and History. A talented
Artist and art teacher, her oil paintings featured birds, flowers & baskets. More recently friends & family were treated to lively images on hand sketched notecards.
Jane & George enjoyed traveling, most notably Hawaii, London, Paris, Portugal & the Panama Canal. They spent winters in Costa Del Sol, Spain, Nettles Island & Venice Fla.
Most recently they stayed at Myrtle Beach where they became members of Brookgreen Gardens and Jane learned basket weaving.
Jane loved chocolate & the color blue but mostly spending her life together with George. He became her devoted caregiver the past few years. One of her frequent sayings was " Growing old is not for Sissies". Jane was an inspiring, caring, and strong woman to all who knew her.
Jane leaves her daughter Anita, son-in-law Glenn Schweizer, grandsons Colin & wife Alli,
Ian. And two great-grandchildren Neil & Addison, many nieces & nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held privately on January 23 at 10 am and can be viewed on u-tube. In lieu of flowers kindly consider a memorial donation in Jane's name to
