Deborah A. Gilmour, age 65 of Matamoras, PA passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Deborah was born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in West Milford, NJ. As a youth, she was a proud majorette and co-captain of the West Milford Drum and Bugle Corps and graduated top of her class from West Milford Township High School. She earned her degree in Psychology from Rutgers University in 1977. Deborah retired in 2019 after 21 years as an Instructional Assistant in Special Education for Delaware Valley School District. She deeply enjoyed making a difference in children’s lives and following their growth and achievements throughout their education. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. Deborah delighted in spending time with friends and family and had a fondness for trivia games, music, and dancing. Known for her generosity, kindness, and wry humor, she will be greatly missed. Deborah is survived by her beloved daughter Sarah Gilmour and partner Gregory Callaghan of Philadelphia, PA. She is also survived by godchildren Kevin, Jason, Heather, and Lauren, nephews Ryan, Casey, and James, and other loving family members. Deborah was predeceased by her dear parents, Joseph and Bertille Aylward, devoted husband John R. B. Gilmour, and brothers Brian Aylward, John Aylward, Brendan Aylward, and Jim Aylward. Cremation will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial and services will be held at a later date in Milford Cemetery, Dingman Township, PA.
