Hello James, I am Joanie's Japanese friend Kenji.
We first met when Joanie took me to your house on my first trip to the US. I remember you welcomed me with a smile despite my sudden visit.
You showed me your hobby, model trains, and told me about the animals that appeared around your house, especially the story about eating bear meat after catching it, which was easy for me to understand because I was not used to English. I couldn't stay at your house for very long at that time, but the hospitality I received in the little time I had was the best. I still remember it.
Exactly 9 years later (I met you 10 years ago in 2014). I received a very sad news.
I had hoped to see you again when I visit the U.S., but it is no longer possible. I am very sorry.
But I have a clear memory of that day when you, Joanie and I were together.
I am grateful to have met you. Thank you.
Thank you for your 83 years of life and Rest in peace.
From Japan.

My dearest Papa Bear, it was my honor to care for you in your final weeks, I thank you for the beautiful experience and all your love!! I learned to beware of Ted, how to make a great Gin n Tonic, what the true meaning of love is and to always stay true to yourself and your faith..! Remember, sometimes Soldiers do fall in love with their nurse..! May you rest in the sweetest of peace.. Love you Papa Bear and with All my Love, Sara
