Captain James Peter Mason born to Arthur (Artie) and Mildred Mason on December 19, 1962 in Long Island, Ny, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026 at home surrounded by his family.
James graduated from East Brunswick Vocational and Technical High School. He became a volunteer firefighter at the age 14 and continued until his last days. He was a proud building engineer for twenty plus years. James was a member of the Hemlock Farms Fire and Rescue Company, Lords Valley, PA. He was passionate about being a firefighter and was an instructor for several classes. His favorite truck was the Ladder Truck. He looked forward to December’s, driving Santa and Elves around the community. When his sons were younger, he was very involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, baseball and football. Jim loved to go camping with his family and friends and enjoyed boating, fishing, range shooting, carpentry, building and fixing things. He was everyone’s Dad and you could not help but love him the second you met him.
James is survived by the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Moody) Mason who he married 41 years ago. Together they had two sons, Kenneth James Mason and his wife Nicole Marie of Brick, NJ, Christopher Michael Mason of Lords Valley, PA. He is also survived by his brother Paul Mason and his wife Mary of Jackson, NJ; brother in law Gregory Moody and his wife Alisa of Gouldsboro, PA; sister in law MaryAnn Moody of Freehold, NJ; nephews Gregory Moody, Jr, Steven Moody, Joel Moody; two nieces Samantha and Stephanie. Great niece Gianna Moody; great nephews Joseph and Dominic Moody. James is also survived by his adopted kids Rick and Natalie and adopted grandchildren Dominic and Juliana.
James was predeceased by two brother in laws, David Moody, John Moody and two aunts Maureen Dragula and Bernadette Krause.
Calling hours will be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2 to 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Chucrh, Lords Valley, PA on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10 AM with Rev. Edward Casey officiating. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery, Dingman Township, PA.
