Obituary of Michael William Windish Rickards
Michael Rickards, 34 of Port Jervis, NY, lost his battle with cancer in the early hours of Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Michael was a line inspector at KDC-One in Port Jervis, NY.
Michael relaxed by playing video games and hanging with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to Monster Jam and watching it on T.V. Mike loved the outdoors especially when he was hunting and fishing with his brothers. He enjoyed spending quiet time at home with his dog Layla and facetiming his aunts.
Born on December 22, 1990, in Philadelphia, to James Sr. and Kristine (Windish). Mike spent his early years growing up in Northeast Philly enjoying playing baseball and learning to fish and hunt. Mike moved up to Wallenpaupack Pa with his family, where Mike and his brothers became true outdoors men. Mike graduated from Wallenpaupack High School and after high school he took a few classes at Lackawanna College.
Mike was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2024, and he fought through it with his great sense of humor and goofy smile. While Mike was in between treatments he attended his cousin's bowling party and dominated with the high score of the night. Emma and Mike shared a love of movies and enjoyed time together at the movies which kept Mike happy during his treatments. Mike had the best of friends who kept in contact with him and would visit him while in the hospital, which meant the world to Mike.
During his remission Mike had a chance to take a trip to Disney and turned into a kid again trick or treating at Mickey’s Halloween party and enjoyed being just Mikey with no worries, especially when he built his own light saber. He truly became a kid again riding on the amusements and taking pictures with all the characters.
