Obituary of Daniel J. Aumick

Daniel J. Aumick, 59, a lifelong resident of Port Jervis, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.

Dan was a dedicated Mental Health Technician at the hospital in Port Jervis, where he had worked since 1982. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Matamoras, PA. His passion for the arts led him to begin volunteering with the A.S.K. Performing Arts in 2010, starting with the production of Annie. In 2012, he joined the Port Jervis Middle School Drama Club, where he served as Assistant Stage Manager, contributing his time, talents, and resources to help with props, costumes, and the success of the children involved.

Deeply committed to civic life, Dan served as Treasurer of the Port Jervis Republican Committee. He was also an Election Monitor, Early Voting Coordinator, and Election Inspector. In addition, he was a member of both the Port Jervis Zoning Board and the Port Jervis Public Library. He held a bachelor’s degree and was actively pursuing his Master’s Degree in Library Science.

Born on February 22, 1966, in Port Jervis, NY, Dan was the son of the late Robert and Marie (Lowery) Aumick.

Dan is survived by his three sisters: Marianne Sierra, Jane Aumick, and Joan Coulter. He was predeceased by his sister Susan D. Aumick. He also leaves behind his nephews Ian Sierra, Zach Coulter, and William Coulter, as well as his nieces Ashley Alvarez and Jaclyn Benefiel, all of whom will deeply cherish his memory.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford Street, Milford, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Matamoras, PA, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Joseph Manarchuck officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Jervis, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dan’s memory may be made to the PJMS Drama Club or the Daniel Aumick Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o PJMS Drama Club, 10 Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771.
