On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Dennis Leroy Chammings passed away at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. Dennis was a retired Electronic Engineer. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for six years aboard the USS Blue Ridge and was a dedicated Vietnam War Veteran.
He had a deep love for animals, especially the seven beloved dogs he and his wife shared over the years. Dennis and Colleen cherished their vacations in Ocean City, MD, where they created many special memories.
Beyond their travels, Dennis and Colleen found great joy in hosting family gatherings. Their home became a beloved gathering place, where they hosted many picnics by the pool. Family and friends would come together to enjoy good food, laughter, and the special tradition of watching the parade, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The son of Kenneth and Artelissie (Banta) Chammings, Dennis was born on May 11, 1949, in Morristown, New Jersey. He married Colleen Susan (Cleary) Chammings on September 6, 1969, in Lincoln Park, NJ. Their marriage of over five decades was filled with love and devotion.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Colleen Susan Chammings; his mother, Artelissie Chammings; his brother, Jeffrey Chammings, and his wife, Barbara; his sister-in-law, Maureen Dutko and her husband, Myron; his brother-in-law, Paul Cleary and wife, Lynn Cleary; his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth L. Chammings and sister, Jill A. Chammings.
Family will receive friends at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 12 to 2 PM. A time for sharing memories will be held at 2 PM, followed by military honors.
Memorial donations may be made in Dennis’ honor to The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
