Our loving and faithful mother, grandmother and great grandmother Evelyn Emr went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 23 at the age of 98. She passed away peacefully at her son’s and daughter-in-law’s home in Ithaca, NY with them at her side.

Evelyn was born in New Jersey and spent her childhood in North Bergen where she graduated from Union Hill High School in 1944. She met her beloved husband John in Cliffside Park, they lived across the street from each other. They were married in 1948, three years after John returned from Germany, having served in the US army during World War II. Evelyn and John lived in Fort Lee, NJ (1954-1997) where they raised their four children; John Emr, Jr. of Port Murray, NJ, Scott Emr of Ithaca, NY, Elyse Colao of Bel Air, MD and Bruce Emr of Brunswick, GA. They moved to Woodloch Springs, PA in 1997. Evelyn’s husband John passed in 2010 after sharing 62 wonderful years together. Evelyn remained in Woodloch Springs until 2017 when she moved to Ithaca, NY.

Evelyn had wonderful memories from her childhood spending her summer vacations in Dingmans Ferry, PA with her parents and two sisters. Evelyn taught a ladies Bible study at her church for nearly 20 years. She loved reading her Bible, singing hymns and listening to Christian music. She also enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband and visiting with her 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Evelyn was well-known in Woodloch Springs for her water aerobics class that she led up until her 90th birthday. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining guests and family.
