Obituary of Ruth Ann Barish

Ruth Ann Janicki Barish, 93, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at home.

 

The daughter of the late Belle and Frank Janicki, she was born at home in Pearl River, New York on October 8, 1931.

 

She was the youngest child with five siblings: Franklin, Elizabeth, Brainard, Isabelle and Irene. She attended school in Pearl River from Kindergarten through her High School graduation in 1949. At the age of nine she became a majorette in the High School Band and later was selected to be the Head Majorette. After graduating she worked for the Dexter Press in Pearl River and was later employed by Lederle Laboratories as the Secretary in the New Products Division. She married the late Lee Barish from Suffern, New York on September 4, 1954. She left work to join Lee as a Navy wife. They had four children: Eric, Nancy, Mark and Joyce (Egan). After Lee left the Navy, the family lived in Suffern, New York for thirty-seven years. During this time Ruth worked for the School District in the Administration Business Office directed by Fred St. Angelo.

 

As an active member of the Lutheran Church, she created many items for the annual craft fairs. She became grandmother to six grandchildren: Nathaniel, Rebecca (Brown), Christopher, Benjamin, Hanna (Skuladottir), and Sara (Skuladottir). After retirement, she and Lee moved to Milford, Pennsylvania. She became a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Neils Neilsen, Pastor, in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania. She served as the Financial Secretary for a number of years.

 

After Lee died in 2017, she lived alone for 5 years in Milford. She became the Great Grandmother of four: Virginia, Ethan, William (Brown) and Eleanor (Brown).When her son Mark completed renovation on a house, she went to live with him in Greeley, Pennsylvania.

 

She loved her children, family, friends, and people. She had a good life by the Grace of God.

 

 Ruth is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren mentioned above.

 

Memorial services will be held 2 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford Street, Milford, Pennsylvania 18337.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Ruth to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 103 Delaware Crest, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania.
