Obituary of Charles L Beamer
Charles (“Charlie”) L. Beamer, 83 of Ballston Lake, NY and formerly of Forestburgh, NY passed away at home on February 6, 2025, with his loving wife of nearly 55 years and his three daughters by his side. The eldest son of the late Charles and Genevieve (Weyer) Beamer, he was born on September 30, 1941, in Tyrone, PA.
A telephone man from the beginning, Charlie started his career as an apprentice with Henkles & McCoy telephone and ending his nearly 40-year phone career as a construction manager with Verizon. In that time, he received many awards, but most notably an award in the late 80’s for placing the first fiber optic cable in Orange County, NY and another award in the early 2000’s for his excellence and commitment to the craft he spent his life perfecting. He was no stranger to hard work. His work ethic gave him the strength to work long hours, during holidays, and in locations away from home to help keep the phone system working for thousands of families. He enjoyed all aspects of his job and truly enjoyed the friendships he made along the way.
Charlie’s favorite sport was baseball. He shared his love of the game by coaching many little league teams and continued playing well into his later years on recreational teams. He enjoyed teaching the young players while instilling in them the value of hard work and hustle needed to bring home the wins.
Charlie enjoyed many outdoor activities throughout his life including hunting, fishing, hiking, and in his most recent years, traveling the countryside from state to state in his motorhome exploring the beauty of the national parks and historic sites of the west. The winters were always spent in the warmth of Arizona, Florida, and many Texas destinations.
Charlie leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Gloria (Greening) Beamer; three daughters and their companions; Cheri, Jackie, and Kristie; his 6 grandchildren; Shelby, Liam, Eliana, Carina, Ada, and baby August Charles; and siblings; James (Diane), Jesse (Rané), and Mardell (Tom). Charlie will be missed by many, but we know he is watching from above and we will see him again one day.
