Margaret A Funking Morley Obituary

Margaret (Maggie/Peggy) Ann Funking Morley, age 87, of Lords Valley, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing Home in Matamoras, PA.

Born June 23, 1939, in Bronx, NY, Maggie was the daughter of the late Henry B. and Marjorie (Swayze) Funking of Mount Vernon, NY. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don Morley, as well as her brother, Donald Lee Funking of Fairfax, VA.

An avid reader, Maggie enjoyed crossword puzzles and keeping up with current events. She spent countless hours crocheting gifts for family and socializing with close friends in Hemlock Farms, where she was a long-term resident. Maggie was also an ardent sports fan and especially loved baseball, attending Yankees games with family and cheering her team on from home every season. She enjoyed singing in the choir at The Church at Hemlock Farms and later the Pike County Choral Society.  In her younger years, Maggie worked as a telephone operator, school bus driver, teacher’s aide, and medical secretary, before retiring early to enjoy life in Hemlock Farms in the Poconos with her husband Don.

In Hemlock Farms, Maggie was a member of the 50+ Club, The Church at Hemlock Farms, and a volunteer at the library.  After her husband’s passing, Maggie dedicated herself to helping others within AA, speaking regularly at meetings and eagerly spending her time talking with inmates and with patients in rehab to share her story and influence others to seek a better way.

She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, Debora (Baumann) Garelli and her husband Joseph Garelli of Lords Valley, PA, Jeanne Baumann of Lords Valley, PA, and Lis Baumann, of Hawley, PA; four granddaughters, Deedra Kaake and her husband Mike of Hyde Park, NY, Jennie Davis of Eynon, PA, Anastasia Garelli and her husband Garret Wheeler of Brooklyn, NY, and Elisabeth Baumann of Lords Valley, PA; her grandson Joseph Garelli and his wife Nichole of Orefield, PA; and three great-grandsons Michael and Aedan Kaake, of NY,  and Rory Davis of Eynon, PA.
