George Harold Hornig Jr., 72 of Shohola, PA passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 23, 2026.

George was born on November 22, 1953 in Newark, New Jersey to the late George Sr. and LaVerne (Haid) Hornig. He grew up in Clifton, New Jersey and was active in Boy Scout Troop 51 throughout his school years. George graduated from Clifton High School in 1971 and attended Passaic County Community College. On February 14, 1981, George married the late Sharon L. (Donkersloot) Hornig after they met working at Newton Memorial Hospital and shared 40 years of marriage until her passing in 2021. He worked many years in healthcare as a Respiratory Therapist until he retired. He loved spending summers in Wildwood during his childhood and shared that joy with his own children later in life. George enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family.

George is survived by his children: Theresa Slemp and her husband Jeffery of Shrewsbury, PA, Jeffrey Hornig and Melissa Tyskewicz of Dingmans Ferry, PA and Michelle Hornig of Shohola, PA; four loving grandchildren: Tracy, Jacob, Caleb and Lylah Slemp; his sister: Laura Cherry and her husband Larry and many other family and friends.

Friends and Family are welcome for visitation at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, with Pastor Jeffery Slemp officiating a brief service at 8 PM.
